Few Interesting Facts about Berlin

The Berlin Wall is probably the first thing that comes up on your mind when talking about Berlin. But, the city is much more than that.

Berlin is the only city in the world with three active opera houses. The Berliner Staatsoper, the Deutsche Oper Berlin, and the Komische Oper are hosting many of the best world singers and musicians, and gives the opera lovers opportunity to see some of the best performances.
Berlin has more bridges than Venice. Indeed, it has more than 1400 bridges and Oberbaumbrücke is probably considered for the most beautiful one, spanning the river Spree and connecting localities of Kreuzberg and Friedrichshain.

Berlin can be called also "the green city". The parks and the greenery makes 1/3 of the total area of the city, which makes it a perfect destination for sightseeing and nature related activities.
The German capital is rich with zoo gardens as well. From the many, the most famous are the Zoologischer Garten, one of the largest zoos in the world with over 19,000 animals from nearly 1,500 different species, and also the Tierpark, located east of Berlin.

Berlin is great destination for the shopping lovers as well. It is home of the Kaufhaus des Westens (Department store of the west), or KaDeWe, the largest department store in Europe, with more than 60,000 square meters of display space spread over 8 floors.
Berlin is really multicultural city. Through the history it has been witness to many migrations. Today with nearly 30% of Berlin’s population of just over 3 million residents having a migrant background, it is said that every one in four Berliners is a Berliner.
